Ski Club Rep's Course: Day 11

Today we had a full day of ski performance training with Phil Smith.

We started with rotation skills that we'd need for the bumps. We had a fair bit of video analysis and practiced various rotation exercises to get our legs moving for the bumps. We then skied a black bump run and all failed to a) ski the fall line without regard for what lay ahead and b) failed to be as active and dynamic with our rotational skills when we actually needed them.

It seems that to get a 'Gold' for on piste performance you need to be able to ski fall line bumps, none of us could...

We then moved on to carving and had a great time hooning around on reasonably empty slopes. Once that was done it was into the off piste to work on our pressure control. We skied down to Fornet via some off-piste trees and bushes and then took the bus back to Val. We then skied some more off piste and then headed home. Another hard day...
