Ski Club Rep's Course: Day 7

Today was a rest day, which meant that last night was a party night... People fancied going somewhere different for a change, since we've been in the Alpaka every night, and since I've been here a while longer than the rest of the guys on the course and know of more of the bars I organised a bit of a pub crawl...

We started in the Alpaka, then moved on to Loop, next was Scotty's where we livened the place up when the girls in the group decided to use the chin-up bar and then everyone else in the group followed suit (we were all pretty crap); once we'd finished and sat down the rest of the bar seemed to decide that they had to use the chin-up bar as well, which livened it up nicely. After Scotty's the plan was to go to TC's but that was closed so we headed back via the Alpaka to collect stragglers and then on to Jacks. We were supposed to also take in Jam Bar but it was 2am by then and we were pretty sure that only Jacks had a late license... The crawl was made more interesting by the fact that it was dumping with snow and we were sliding about in knee deep drifts between bars.

This morning breakfast was a little subdued. The snow was still falling, they were preparing the Aeroski lift outside the hotel but winds up top were bad. I decided that it would be most sensible to take a lazy day, so I didn't bother heading out until around 1.30. Unfortunately they were still testing the Aeroski so I headed over to Val Claret. Only the lower chairs and the train were open, the glacier was closed, so it was much like yesterday, only busier and with worse visibility. I skied down once and there were so many out of control skiers and boarders on an already crowded piste that I decided that it was safer to head home. The snow was nice but I was on my own due to failing to meet up with the people I'd arranged to meet with and so I headed home. When I got off of the bus outside the hotel I noticed that they'd just opened the Aeroski and hopped on there to check out the new stuff.

It seemed that only "Piste H" was open, so I skied that in similar conditions to the stuff over on Double M. It wasn't quite as busy but it was still fairly crap vis. I decided to call it a day and head home.
