Week 2

The second week of slalom training went very well. I feel like I'm improving but there's still a lot of work to do if I want to try my hand at the "test technique". Blair's a great coach and we've done lots of interesting and useful stuff this week which built well on the stuff that we were doing with Phil. And, at last, some snow arrived... Unfortunately the cold weather hasn't stayed around so it's fading fast down around Le Lac. When I drove to St. Gervais today it was 20C in Albertville...

The work we did on Rosolin for handling rhythm changes and getting us faster out of the gates and on our feet worked really well; and what's more I can now recognise the more unusual gate arrangements when I see them on the televised ski racing...

We had lots of video analysis which was really useful; I think we had video taken on all days except Friday. Looking at the video that I posted earlier I've noticed that I'm still pretty much "park and ride" before the gate; that is I'm setting up and then just waiting for the gate to come to me rather than continuing to be dynamic the whole time, need to speak to Blair about that...

The steeper stuff on 3500 was a bit frustrating but hopefully we'll get back there quite quickly this week and things will go better this time...
