Week in review: 1

I drove out, stayed over in St. Gervais with Lucy and collected my new skis. Due to the wind we only skied 3 days out of the 6 that we should have but the training was great and I'm already skiing gates considerably better than I was in Argentina. I'm staying at the Alpaka Lodge, which is cool; the food is good, the staff and dogs are friendly, there's free WiFi and the bar is lively even this early in the season. The weather is a little disappointing at present. Tignes is due to open in a week's time but at present the place is very bare and very green. There's limited skiing on the Grande Motte glacier which is fine for the slalom training but not really enough for enjoyable free skiing... Still, we had around 10cm of snow up top last night and some of the lower slopes now have a dusting of snow which has lasted all day as the temperatures seem to be falling. Fingers crossed that the snow gods will be kind.
