Trevelin by night

We arrived at Trevelin and had a "traditional welsh tea", well, tea and cakes... Trevelin was founded during the Welsh imigration in 1860 (read more here.) Of course, immediately after the tea we all went wandering around in groups looking for bars to while away the evening; well, actually that's not strictly true... Since we filled the hotel to overflowing some of the guys were in little self contained houses and one of these had a barbequeue so Will decided to go shopping and have a bit of a party... Anyway, back to the bars...

The picture above is James, one of the snowboarders, behind the bar at the bar where we spent most of the evening, but I'm getting ahead of myself...

Trevelin is pretty small and it was quite amusing to see groups of the guys wandering back and forth looking for somewhere to spend the evening. We soon discovered that there was a rather nasty bar (really local, dirty glasses, etc) at the far end of town (thanks to Adam and the boys for testing that one for us!) and, after asking, that there were two other bars. One seemed closed and the other, opposite the tourist office, was a little dull, it was, perhaps, OK when it was full, but we were the only people there and it was a little too brightly lit and looked more like a slightly fake 'theme' bar in an airport lounge... So, we had a couple of drinks there and then decided to move on.

The picture above is of Neil and Jay playing in the central square; we were worried that they might break the seesaw...

After the poor theme bar we popped back to the hotel as a photographer who had been taking pictures of us in the terrain park was supposed to be popping by to show us his work, we had a few drinks there and he didn't show up so we went back to the bar that had appeared to be closed, it now had lights in the windows...

The bar was full of our group, it hadn't been closed earlier, it had just looked closed... It served food and the owner seemed pretty relaxed; James seemed to have the run of the bar and mixed random shots for us... The night descended into the usual kind of evening and much booze was consumed.

Me, Tom, the bar owner, Neil and Hepzi.

Joe decided that he didn't want a repeat of his Esquel session and so he tried to do a runner; literally. He got as far as the end of the street before Max and Ant caught him and frog-marched him back to the bar; he was then presented with a penalty shot... After sitting quietly for a little while and with Max, Ant and the other more boisterous members distracted by pizza he tried again. This time the first we knew of his departure was when the wind-chime by the door started jingling; by the time we looked out of the window he was at the end of the street and he didn't stop running until he reached the hotel...

The rest of us stayed until closing time and then some of the guys stayed after with the owner for a little vodka...
