This week most of the Megève ski area closed, only two chairs and a baby drag lift are left open at Cote 2000. The Megève season went out with a bang though as we had well over 30cm of fresh snow on the last day and as the town is so quiet that we skied in deep powder until last lifts. The rest of this week has been mostly overcast with some sprinkles of snow, the temperatures have stayed low and the town and, now deserted, slopes have stayed snow covered far longer than we expected. Today was our first real sunny day and the snow's going, again, but this time it seems right. The town is now officially in low season, hotels, restaurants and shops are closing for a break between now and the summer season.
We skied Les Saisies, Les Contamines, Mont d'Arbois, Cote 2000 and La Clusaz this week. Conditions vary but there's still good skiing to be had. Apart from the powder at Mont d'Arbois on Sunday probably the best conditions this week were at Cote 2000 yesterday. All of the resorts are winding down now, Les Contamines closes this Sunday and Les Saisies on 28th, Cote 2000 and La Clusaz should be open until the end of the month.
Miche's mum finished her visit with us on Monday and the video footage that I uploaded on Wednesday shows that she's no longer just the queen of the snow-plough, she can do parallel too.
