It snowed again today but not as much as it was forecast. The forecasts were for big dumps all over this area with around 30cm today and tomorrow at altitude, but today's snow seems to have been far less than that and it seems to be settling far less than the last fall. Since we expected the snow today we skied in Les Saisies as we expected the visibility to be pretty poor and we hoped that the new snow would work well with the base that they already had. Unfortunately it seems that Les Saisies is starting to suffer in much the same way that Les Contamines is. The conditions today were a mix of yesterday's lightly frozen slush with a small layer of new snow on top. Some of the frozen slush was harder than other sections and the overall effect was one of a lumpy, uneaven, surface with variable speed due to the different snow conditions; the kind of conditions that are OK, if annoying, if you're on a week's holiday but really aren't worth bothering with when they happen on day 70+ of the season. Miche and I didn't really do much in the way of skiing today, we pottered around but the snow and the weather weren't really conducive to wanting to ski. Pat had a good day's lesson and her skiing is coming along nicely; her parallel turns are working well and she's skiing faster.
