A poke in the eye with a sharp stick

I managed to poke my eye onto the end of a stupid dried plant thing in the apartment whilst putting some beer away last night... Doh! The result was that my left eye was uncomfortable and streaming with tears quite a lot of today which made skiing interesting. The strange thing was that as I was concentrating on seeing I completely ignored everything else and had a damn good day. Feet were good. Eye is getting better.

Thankfully we had Helena here so I had my only private nurse to make me do the right thing re the eye and admister the treatments (I'm not good with eyes...) so all I had to contend with today was the fact that the eye was uncomfortable, itchy and it tended to run with tears the whole time... Of course having an eye that you cant see out of makes skiing a little more challenging. Strangely the tears cleared and the itching seemed to go away when I was actually moving...

No lessons for the guys today so we skied over on Rochebrune. Helena and Brian skied on the runs around Caboche in the morning and Miche and I took some runs down Fontaine. We lunched at Super Megève and then the plan for the afternoon was to take the guys over to Fontaine. Unfortuately the plan changed when Helena decided to get off of the Raverette drag halfway up (the sign by the bend was confusing...) and then had to come down the bump run next to it. Brian and I got off to help her and after an interesting fall we side slipped the rest of the run and decided to take the chair to the top (Helena had already had a couple of false starts on the drag...).

Once we finally made it to Alpette it was getting a bit late, and Helena was looking a little less confident after her mogul skiing experience, so we decided to take them back towards Caboche and after a few more runs over there Brian and I finished with a run down the race course.

My eye problems kept my brain from thinking about my feet and my feet did well all on their own; I felt more controlled and confortable than yesterday, and yesterday was a good day, more of the same for tomorrow please... Now to fix my eye...
