Back on skis after 7 days off

We have Michelle's cousin Helena and her husband Brian visiting us for the week. They flew to Ireland from Florida for the wedding and then came back to Geneva with us. Helena had a lesson with Lucy this morning and Brian skied with Miche and me.

Brian last skied 16 years ago but from the looks of things he's remembering most of it. After a "yard sale" of a fall on the blue down towards the Mt Joux chair he got in the swing of it and we skied off of Mt Joux and Etudiants in the morning with a quick run down the Princess reds and blacks before lunch.

At the start of the day my body position felt slightly wrong. By the time we'd got onto Etudiants that had sorted itself out and the rest of the day was very comfortable.

In the afternoon we took the La Finance blue down to the Betex bubble and then cut down near Freddy and headed to the base of Mont d'Arbois. We had a leasiurely ski back to Rochebrune with the guys and then did the green from Caboche with Helena.

I used the Suunto S6 today to track some of our descents; we did 10 runs this morning in the 2hrs 51 mins that I had the log running, for a total vertical of 4349m with an average descent speed of 86 m/min... The log samples every 10 seconds and shows a graph of the altitude and the ascent/descent speed for that sample period, which is interesting... I need to get a serial port to usb adapter for my laptop so that I can download these logs from the watch and look at them in a bit more detail...

It was cold but clear and sunny, an ideal ski day, it's good to be home.
