Free WIFI in Megeve

We popped into the Tourist office again this afternoon and asked about the WIFI access. It seems that you can just come in, sit down and connect to their WIFI if you have your own hardware and it's free. They don't serve beer though :(

Hi there,
I'm also an IT-contractor-head, and it looks like I'm gonna be spending some time in Notre Dame De Belcomme, (near Megeve) pretty soon. My girlfriend is working there for the winter for a ski holiday company, so I'll be staying with her. Anyway, I'll be there for about 4 weeks, but only cos the work I've got lined up for March will allow me to work remotely. HOWEVER, I need to be able to get Wi-Fi Net access on a daily basis for about 8 hours, 5 days a week, and the best we can find is the library in Megeve.

Could you let me know your net experiences over there? Are there net cafes that would allow you to plugin? you mention the tourist office - but could a person sit there all day? Have you tried the library - are they cool with sitting around all day?

Would really like to hear what you have to say, as it would help no-end.

The area in the Tourist Office is OK but the benches are quite hard and the table is coffee table height. I expect you'd get back or neck problems if you spent too long there :) There's a power socket in the corner that I've seen someone using once or twice but I've no idea if they allow that or if the guy was just chancing it. I've never been to the library...

You may be able to sort out a deal with the guy in the internet cafe near to the post office. He closes for a long lunch, but he's open every day except saturday and you may be able to get a special rate if you explain what you need...

France: Where even the Cafes close for lunch. Unbelievable!

Thanks for the feedback - I really appreciate it. I'm REALLY looking forward to four weeks in the snow! (even if I do have to work a bit!)
