As Len said in the previous post, we were skiing a run called Tour today. It was great because there was plenty of opportunity to make fresh tracks in what was pretty much "ego snow" (ie lovely light powder on a firm base - easy to ski!). We skied that run 4 or 5 times, since no once else was on it and so we had the run and the drag lift pretty much to ourselves. I've decided that my news skis are powder gods!! Having had a great day on a demo pair of the Dynastar Exclusive Legends in the knee deep powder a week or so ago, I decided I had to buy them. This was the first opportunity since then to ski fresh tracks in the powder, so I was hoping I was going to be able to repeat my performance and last time hadn't just been a fluke. Anyway, I am pleased to report that I had another excellent day's skiing, putting in both long carve turns and short turns in the powder without any problems at all.
Having done the run a couple of times, Len spotted an earlier place where we could cut under the drag lift and access the run a bit higher up. This was a bit off the piste and no-one had skied it yet. Len went first and I followed. Have to say I had a moment's hesitation because although it was not steep, the snow was a bit deeper and because it sloped away to the side, we had to keep to a fairly narrow width. However, as soon as I set off I relaxed into it and really enjoyed it. We went straight back up to the top and did a second run down, making another set of fresh tracks slightly further over towards the sloping-off bit. At the bottom of that we looked back at our tracks and Len took a photo.

The sky looks so dark because Len had to edit the colours to make the ski tracks visible in the photo - but the tracks a real! You can't really tell that the snow had any depth to it from this photo, but it was about 30cms of fresh snow.
