We were planning to ski in St Gervais today, we haven't been down there yet and I was hoping that, perhaps, the snow would be better down there (hmm). Anyway, that plan was binned when we looked out of the kitchen window this morning just after breakfast and saw that snow was starting to fall. It's still falling...
It seems that the French in Megève don't bother to go out if the weather isn't lovely; and they're never out before 10 anyway. Most of the people out in todays storm were English and there weren't that many of us. We skied around Rochebrune on quiet slopes with fresh snow slowly building up. The morning was a tad windy and quite a few lifts were closed due to the wind, but that seemed to drop off after lunch and the snow changed from small, light, frozen lumps to fat, soft, flakes.
By the time we decided to call it a day we were still making fresh tracks and the snow looked to be at least 10-12cm better off at mid station but it was hard to tell as there wasn't a lot left untracked and I didn't have a tape measure with me... When I got home and pulled into the car park at the apartment I found we'd had at least 15-20cm down here (fresh tracks in the car park in the Rav4). I wonder what they got up at the top...
The sun's going down and the snow is still falling; the forecast is for clear skies for tomorrow. Looks like an early start and first lifts...
