Les Gets

We drove for 50 mins to Les Gets this morning. Chris and Hilary wanted to visit the site of the apartment that they're having built and we'd heard the snow was a little better over that way. None of us had skied the area before so it was useful to have Lucy along to guide us around. Pat managed a lesson in the afternoon and discovered that her ankle hurts less when skiing than it does when walking, result!

This was my second day on the B2s and I think I finally got them completely under control. The wide empty pistes of Les Gets were ideal of rolling them right over on the edge and letting them rip in huge carving turns, and once that was working the slightly wider stance that just happens when you're travelling at those speeds on these kind of skis stayed with me as we slowed towards the lifts and I managed to put in some nicely controlled, fast, short swings which felt good.

We skied down to the bottom of the Nyon lift which is where Chris and Hilary's place will be; there's not much to see as the building work is a little delayed and it's now on hold until the snow clears. We met up with everyone else for lunch and ate at La Croix Blanche which was very pleasant.

After skiing we met up with Jerome, the estate agent that they're using for the purchase of their apartment; they talked shop for a while (so much to sort out when you're building a property from scratch) and then talk moved on to ice hocky. Jerome and his wife are both very involved with the Morzine ice hockey team and we've been invited to one of the play offs next week - sounds like fun.
